Power and Energy Delivers Large Order For Next-Generation Hydrogen Purifiers

New PE9000S series purifiers feature higher capacity and greater reliability

IVYLAND, PA../EWORLDWIRE/June 27, 2007

Power+Energy, Inc. has shipped three high capacity hydrogen purifiers to a leading manufacturer of high performance LED devices. Each PE9375S system has the capacity to deliver up to 375 standard liters per minute (800 cubic feet per hour/22.5 cubic meters per hour) under standard conditions. The new PE9000S purifier series includes models with capacities that range from 30 slpm to 675 slpm at standard conditions (63 cfh to 1430 cfh / 1.8 nm3/hr. to 40nm3/hr.). This new generation purifier offers greater capacity in a single, compact system.

This next-generation system features an advanced palladium (Pd) alloy membrane assembly that incorporates a novel, patented design developed in cooperation with several major DoD contracts for hydrogen membranes. The system features a GE industrial controller with touch screen interface for high reliability and global parts availability. The intuitive control software may be fully duplicated over a LAN network, and basic operational commands may also be given using dry relay contact connections. This turn-key system also includes diagnostic functions and dedicated connections for leak detection and trouble-shooting.

P+E offers higher capacity redundant systems for larger volume requirements where the system can support facility-wide ultra pure hydrogen supply. Using parallel redundant purifiers and controllers, these systems offer continuity of supply even during maintenance cycles. Multi-system manifolds with a single point of connection are available to increase the ease of installation, operation and system maintenance.

P+E’s unique membrane technology provides several key features for improved operations, reliability and reduced cost of ownership. Combining high efficiency heat exchangers and effective insulation, P+E purifiers use much less power for operation than competing systems. Using inside-out tubular micro-channel membranes, P+E purifiers have very low contained hydrogen for rapid shutdown and allow very low bleed rates, minimizing hydrogen waste. Combined, these systems have the lowest operating costs possible, saving both hydrogen costs and power costs.

About P+E

Power+Energy, Inc., established in 1993, is a privately held firm based near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a branch office in Japan. The company develops and manufactures hydrogen purifiers and separators for fuel cell systems as well as a number of applications including semiconductor fabrication, energy research and laboratory applications. P+E has a worldwide customer base and supplies hydrogen purifiers to producers of semiconductors including most major suppliers of high brightness light emitting diodes (LEDs).
